Our 13 beautiful bedrooms are the perfect blend of cosy and contemporary, offering everything you need for a restful night’s sleep after a day exploring the Cambrian Mountains or a feast in the dining room.
Choose from standard singles and twins, superior doubles, or generous suites. Fancy people-watching in the square? Go for a room at the front. Prefer peace and garden views? The rear’s where it’s at. Every room includes a modern bathroom with a power shower, fluffy towels, and the sort of bed that practically whispers, “Just five more minutes.”
We’ve made sure accessibility is a priority too – with a fully accessible ground-floor bedroom, and step-free access throughout the building. We’ve also got three dog-friendly rooms, so your four-legged friend can sleep in comfort too.
And yes – it’s always best to book ahead, especially if you want to visit during busy seasons or events.

Dafydd Watkin, our Head Chef (yes, the one who trained with Marco Pierre White), doesn’t just cook – he curates an experience. He designed our sparkling kitchen himself, trained every single one of our chefs, and changes the menu with the seasons to reflect what’s growing, grazing, or swimming nearby.
Our menus – the same whether you’re in the elegant restaurant or enjoying a casual lunch in the bar – are rooted in local produce. Expect local beef, line-caught fish from Cardigan Bay, and vegetables pulled from nearby farms just that morning. There are vegetarian and vegan options, and we cater for all dietary requirements with thought and care – no side salads passed off as a meal here.
Fine dining, yes – but not fussy. Think rich, comforting, perfectly balanced plates with just the right amount of flair. Food that makes you feel something. Food you’ll want to come back for.

We’re proud CAMRA members, and our bar is Cask Marque accredited, with a 5-star rating for cellar hygiene, beer range and service. There’s an excellent range of beers, real ales and ciders, alongside a thoughtfully chosen wine list and all the non-alcoholic options you’d hope for. A Place with History, Heart and a Hint of Hwyl
We’ve stood in the centre of Tregaron for centuries – originally a drovers’ inn, where cattle herders paused to rest their feet and quench their thirst on the long journey to market. And while the cattle may have moved on, that spirit of welcome and community is stronger than ever.
Today, Y Talbot is known throughout Wales and beyond as a place to gather, celebrate, relax, reconnect, eat exceptionally well, and – if we’re lucky – maybe share a few stories over a pint of locally brewed real ale.
