We’re right in the heart of Mid Wales, near the Cambrian Mountains and food that’s thoughtful, comforting, and proudly rooted in where we are. And at the heart of it all? Dafydd Watkin, our Head Chef and co-owner, who’s trained with Marco Pierre White and worked at The Ritz, but cooks now with one rule in mind: serve what you’d love to eat yourself.
Looking for a great place to eat in Ceredigion? At Y Talbot, we serve more than just meals – we serve memories. Whether it’s a lazy Sunday lunch, a celebratory dinner, or a spontaneous stop for a pint and a plate, our Tregaron restaurant and pub welcome everyone – from hikers and holidaymakers to foodies and families.

The best place to eat in Tregaron –
award – winning food, relaxed pub dining with real restaurant flavour and a friendly welcome.
At Y Talbot, we don’t do hierarchies. The same menu is served in both the dog-friendly and fully accessible bar and the more traditional restaurant. Come in walking boots or dressed to impress – either way, you’ll get great food and a proper welcome.
“Delicious food, friendly staff and my dog loved it too. The best Sunday lunch I’ve had in years.”

Our Menus
A Taste of the Menu
Our menus shift with the seasons and Dafydd’s inspiration. Expect dishes like a perfectly golden Scotch egg with sharp apple purée, or seabream with buttery chicken jus and cauliflower purée. Sunday roasts come with creamy dauphinoise potatoes, not roasties – and yes, we’ve converted many a traditionalist.
Don’t leave without trying the cheesecake – a creamy legend with caramelised banana – or the chocolate mousse, rich enough to silence a table. And if you just fancy a coffee and a treat? Our Teifi Coffee (roasted in Llandysul) and Dafydd’s homemade brownies are the definition of a good idea.
“That cheesecake! I don’t even have a sweet tooth and I nearly licked the plate.”

Thoughtful Food, Thoughtful Wine

Every wine on our list is handpicked by Tracy, co-owner and resident self-appointed taster. The aim? Wines that taste great, match the food, and don’t require a second mortgage. Just ask if you’d like a pairing suggestion – we’re happy to help.
Celebrations and Special Events

Whether it’s dinner for two or a party of 100, we’ve got the space. Dine in the restaurant (seats up to 40), the ‘Cwtsh’ private room (seats up to 8), the Lounge (seats up to 12), or our Function Room, complete with its own bar and garden access.
Keep an eye on our social media for Dafydd’s special dinner nights – elegant four-course evenings that sell out fast. Or better yet, sign up to our newsletter so you’re first to know.
