Dog-Friendly Hotel in Tregaron, Ceredigion – Warm Beds, Wagging Tails and the Best Walks in Wales

If you’re looking for a dog-friendly hotel in Mid Wales that’s run by people who truly love dogs – you’ve found it. Dafydd and Tracy, who own and run Y Talbot, have dogs of their own. So do most of the team. We understand the joy (and occasional chaos) that comes with bringing your four-legged companion on holiday. That’s why dogs at Y Talbot aren’t just allowed – they’re welcomed like VIPs (Very Important Pooches). Bowls, biscuits, belly rubs… we’ve got it all covered. With dog-friendly accommodation, a relaxed pub setting, and miles of walks through the Cambrian Mountains, this is a place where you and your dog can explore, unwind and truly feel at home.

The Welcome (for Dogs and Humans Alike)Dog Friendly Room

The moment you arrive, your dog will be offered a water bowl, a scratch behind the ears, and a biscuit or two from the treat jar behind the bar (though some regulars are very good at pretending it’s their first time). They’ll receive their very own welcome pack – towel, bowl, treats all to take home as a souvenir. No need to pack extras. Just bring the lead and a good sense of direction.

We’ve got three dog-friendly rooms – our accessible ground-floor room and two garden suites where you can enjoy the view of our landscaped garden and the hillside beyond. Each one is spacious, comfortable, and set up for stress-free stays with muddy paws and waggy tails. Just call us direct to make sure you’ve got the right fit. Best to book early, especially in walking season. These rooms are in demand – and rightly so.

Walks to Remember

Ceredigion is a dog-walking dream. You can stroll around Cors Caron Nature Reserve, where the boardwalk stretches over miles of raised bog (much more appealing than it sounds), perfect for a flat, scenic amble. For more of a climb, head into the Cambrian Mountains – wild, open and utterly beautiful.

The Natural Resources Wales website has a full list of dog-friendly routes across Ceredigion’s woodlands, trails and uplands. Or just ask us at the bar – the locals are a wealth of knowledge and will happily tell you where to go, in the nicest possible way.
